Account data (optional)

If you create an account: email address, username, encrypted password. For Google sign-in: name and profile picture provided by Google.

Game data

Game scores, results, and streaks — stored to power leaderboards and your personal history.

We also record each round you answer: the image and model you picked, the other options shown in that round, the round number, response time and content-pool version. These records carry no name, no account link, no IP address and no identifier stored on your device — only a random number that exists while the page is open, so that repeated answers to the same round can be excluded. They cannot be traced back to you, and we cannot connect them to your account even if you have one.

This is how the published figures on model ratings and methodology are produced. It runs for every visitor and needs no consent, because nothing is stored on or read from your device for it (§25(2) TDDDG) and the result is anonymous statistics.

Analytics (with consent)

If you accept optional cookies, we use Google Analytics (G-4YNW9P2V6F) to understand pages visited, game modes played and approximate location (country level).

Advertising

Advertising on this site is managed by Mediavine. Mediavine and its advertising partners may process device information, IP address, page interactions and advertising identifiers to deliver, measure and protect advertising. Depending on your region and your choices, ads may be personalised or non-personalised. See the Mediavine Privacy Policy.

Some articles, and the screen you see after finishing a quiz, also contain affiliate links. They are labelled as affiliate links where they appear, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Nothing is loaded from the partner until you follow one; doing so takes you to their own site, where their privacy policy applies.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the weekly newsletter we store your email address, the date you signed up, where on the site you signed up from, and the date you confirmed. Confirmation is required: after you enter an address we send a single email with a confirmation link, and nothing further is sent unless you click it. That record exists so we can show, if asked, that the subscription was requested from that address.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time via the unsubscribe link in every issue — no login needed. Withdrawing deletes the address from the subscriber list. If you subscribed through a signed-in account instead, withdrawal switches the setting off on your profile; you can also change it in settings. Delivery is handled by Resend, listed below.

Local storage

We store your streak data locally in your browser. Your consent choices are stored by the consent tool described in section 7. We no longer keep any analytics identifier on your device — the id used to group rounds of one game lives in the page's memory and is gone when you close the tab.
